Here's what some of our best JCS Teachers have to say about Chromebooks in their classroom!
“Mr. Cessna, are we using Chromebooks today?” has become the question I hear most frequently as a 7th grade teacher. Going 1 to 1 in my classroom has truly revolutionized 7th grade ancient history, a content that many students walk into with a stigma that history is “boring” or irrelevant. Incorporating Google Suite for education in my classroom has helped my students change their perception of ancient history. Whether it’s keeping a digital history journal using Google My Maps or collaborating with the class on a Google Slides Presentation about historic sites in Ancient Egypt, students are growing to love the dynamic story that is history while using Chromebooks. -Matt Cessna, East Jessamine Middle School
As a world language teacher, getting Chromebooks into the hands of my students has been invaluable. With them, my students have been able to listen to others speak French, visit French websites, virtually visit French-speaking areas, all at their own pace and without leaving our classroom. As a teacher, it's been indispensable, allowing me to easily share things with my students, specialize my instruction to individual students, and educate my students with better materials. One of the greatest things though, is thanks to the Chromebooks, my students have been able to connect with students in France. Writing to them, learning about teenage life in another country, and just enjoying the language and experience. -Dustin McClain, West Jessamine High School
